A one-day workshop on biofabrication at TTU for South Plains College

Dr. George Tan is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Industrial Manufacturing and Emerging Technologies program at the South Plains College (SPC) at Levelland, TX.

"I will leverage my role in SPC and the resources in TTU to establish vibrant university-community partnerships with global connections." -- Dr. George Tan

The workshop is designed to expose student about research/innovation opportunities in biomedical design and manufacturing. It also served as an opportunity to recruit and engage two-year community college students for the 2+2 bachelor degree program.

Students had a review of the state-of-the-art of additive manufacturing (3D printing) for biomedical design and manufacturing and gained hands-on experiences with fused deposition modeling and bioprinting.

There is strong momentum to grow a domestic manufacturing base in the United States. The partnership between TTU and SPC will enrich manufacturing technology education and expedite innovation in advanced manufacturing for biomedical applications.
